33: Bitches Love Bay Windows, Bed Bugs Love to Eat

***

They were hiding in the windows.

They were climbing down the walls.

And, as it turned out, they were living in the electrical socket that our bed was pushed to rest beside. It was the same electrical socket near which my leg perched some mere inches away each night, unknowing. Like a contented bird sleeps the day before the weather goes south, hours before he realizes his mistake in not doing the same. Sooner.

Hunger. Eat. Madness. Choice.

When is it evolution and when is it fate?

And how can a concept as obese as i-n-s-t-i-n-c-t fit in a body so flat? How can a multi-syllable word even fit in a brain the size of a pin prick? A million and one pin pricks waiting in the wall.

I lose blood each night until we finally cook them out.

Life continues.
